Site Information

After reading Ken Akamatsu's Love Hina, a love story I absolutely adore, why not try his other series? My sister actually told me about Mahou Sensei Negima!, recommended by her guy friend. Of course I knew what I was getting myself into since a guy recommended it, but fan service aside in the series, Negima! turned out to be a pretty great series. It's not a typical Japanese shounen genre, since instead of ninjas or samurai, the heroes are wizards and mages, who cast spells in Latin. The series is also the only manga I've been buying and collecting. With a whooping volume of 16 (21 in Japan), there goes my fifteen bucks every month.

I'm never really a fan of the leading female, but Asuna somehow became an exception. As the story progresses, it's amazing that she grows up so much. She used to be a voilent, impatient loud-mouth — she's still those things actually — but she also learned how to be more mature and to care for her friends. It is no doubt that I had to create a fanlisting for her and even write a little something to show some dedication.

The fanlisting was supposed to actually expand into a full-blown shrine of some sort last summer, but for now I think a few sections should do. Perhaps when my partner in crime, Elie (the owner of Konaka's fanlisting!) and I find more time, we'll be able to create the Mahou Sensei Negima! shrines we've always wanted and planned. It was also a miracle that I met this girl, because we're like one of the only few individuals out of a million who loves the series. Negima! needs more love!

Azalea

I actually find it quite difficult to find the perfect site title for Asuna. I ended up with Azalea after hunting for some flower meaning, and it turns out, the azalea flower means, "true to the end." If fits Asuna in my opinion, because she is one tough lady who will stay true to what she believes and stands for. She is also someone who's not the best at giving up, especially if it concerns a stubborn English gentleman, Negi Springfield.

The Mechanics

Everything in Azalea have been written by me, unless stated otherwise, using my faithful resource, the Negima! manga collection. The site has been designed in Adobe Photoshop CS2, edited using Adobe ImageReady CS2. The main portion of the HTML have been hand-coded by yours truly in TextEdit, except for Angela's fanlisting managing script, Enthusiast, the generated code in Adobe ImageReady and various javascripts to enhance the site.

Some images and scans are credited to One Manga, Anime Paper and Mini Tokyo.
